1. Who is organizing Bandung UADC 2018?
Bandung UADC 2018 is organized by the Broadway Entertainment Group and Student English Forum Institut Teknologi Bandung (SEF ITB).
2. When will Bandung UADC 2018 take place?
Bandung UADC 2018 will take place from 27 May to 2 June 2018. Click here for general agenda.
3. What debate format is used in Bandung UADC 2018?
Bandung UADC 2018 applies the Asian Parliamentary debate format, where two teams of three debaters go against each other in each match-up before an adjudicating panel throughout the tournament. The number of adjudicators in the panel will vary in each round. There will be 8 Preliminary Rounds before the Octofinals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Final.
4. Will there be break rounds for EFL teams in Bandung UADC 2018?
Yes. Verified EFL teams that do not break the open brackets are eligible to proceed to the EFL Outrounds. The amount of EFL teams eligible to break will be determined according to the UADC constitution.
5. How do I register my team as an EFL team?
There will be an announcement during the second day of UADC, publishing forms to register yourself as an EFL speaker that’ll be verified by UADC Language officer. If everyone in your team passes as an EFL speaker, your team is automatically registered as an EFL team.
6. Is there a tournament team cap?
Yes. Bandung UADC 2018 will see a maximum of 80 teams competing for the title.
7. How many teams can my school send in one delegation?
Each delegation is allowed to register up to 5 teams with the first 2 teams going directly into the Main List and the remaining 3 teams put into the Waiting List along with any other teams registered after the 80-team Main List cap is filled out.
8. Is my delegation required to have any adjudicator?
Yes. Bandung UADC 2018 implements an N1 adjudicator policy, meaning that for every N number of teams being sent by a delegation, there must be an N number of adjudicators in the same delegation. For example, if you send 3 teams, you will have to also send 3 adjudicators. This is to ensure an adequate, diverse, and representative pool of adjudicators.
For clarity:
-
If you’re sending 2 teams, your delegation must at least consist of 8 individuals (3 debaters in each team and 2 official adjudicators). If you’re sending 3 teams (contingent on the three teams getting into the Main List), your delegation must at least consist of 12 individuals (3 debaters in each team and 3 official adjudicators).
-
If you’re planning to send 2 teams, you can send more than 2 adjudicators. Please indicate this in your registration by filling in the Adjudicators box.
-
There is no exception to this policy. If your delegation does not have any adjudicator, your teams will be ineligible to compete.
9. I missed the registration deadline. Can I still register?
We may accept your registration depending on the situation. However, if you register after the registration submission period has passed (meaning teams are already invoiced and/or making their registration fee payment to secure their participation), you will end up at the bottom of the Waiting List. This will significantly diminish your chance to participate as there is an 80-team cap in place. We advise all interested participants to adhere to the registration timeline to avoid such inconvenience.

10. How do the teams in the Waiting List get promoted into the Main List?
The registration team will inform all participants periodically of the Main List and Waiting List compositions. When a slot opens up in the Main List, the team listed #1 in the Waiting List will be promoted into the Main List and so on. Order in which each team is listed in the Main List and Waiting List is based on (1) time of registration submission and (2) inclusiveness policy.
How does this work?
If by the end of the registration phase (19 February 2018) we still have slots left, we will allocate it to the teams on waiting list on first come first serve and inclusiveness policy. Promoted teams will be announced sometime between 19 - 23 February 2018.
If any teams do not complete their first payment phase in due time (16 March 2018), their slots will be vacated and subsequently allocated to the teams on the waiting list. Promoted teams will be announced somewhere between 16 - 23 March 2018. Teams that are promoted to the main list at this stage will have to complete all of their payment by 13 April 2018 (Second Payment Phase)
To ensure inclusivity in our pool of participant, we will prioritize all third teams of every institution to be promoted to the main list before promoting any of the fourth or fifth teams. To illustrate, if we have 3 open slots, and our waiting list consist of A3, A4, A5, B3, B4, B5, C3, C4, C5 in the order of registration, then the slots will be given to A3, B3, and C3 instead of A3, A4, and A5. If any first and second teams do not get direct entrance into the Main List, they will be prioritized ahead of third teams. Order in which each team is particularly listed on the lists correspond with the registration submission timestamp recorded by our system.
